Legal Counsel, IP & Brand Protection

Copenhagen, Denmark | Full-time | On-site

Join OMHU as we expand from our signature TEDDY sofa into a broader international design and furniture brand. New products, new markets and new collaborations create exciting opportunities, and make protecting our designs and brand more important than ever.

We're looking for a commercially minded Legal Counsel to lead our in-house Legal function, take ownership of IP and brand protection, and help our teams move quickly with sound legal advice.

What you'll do

You'll take on a hands-on role with genuine ownership. Intellectual property will account for approximately 70–80% of your work, with the remainder focused on selected commercial legal matters.

Our Legal team currently consists of a dedicated Legal Student Assistant who drives day-to-day IP matters. You'll lead the function and support her professional development, while working closely with Product, Design, Marketing and Operations. You'll report directly to our CFO, who retains overall responsibility for Legal.

Intellectual property and brand protection

  • Develop and execute OMHU's global IP strategy across designs, trademarks and other relevant rights.

  • Review new products for potential IP risks and recommend protection before launch.

  • Lead infringement and enforcement matters, including brand protection, negotiations and takedowns.

  • Manage international registrations and work with external counsel where local or specialist advice is needed.

  • Build practical IP processes that scale with our growing product portfolio.

Commercial legal support

  • Draft, review and negotiate designer, licensing, royalty, supplier and other commercial agreements.

  • Advise on selected consumer, marketing, contract and compliance questions.

  • Give colleagues clear, practical recommendations that balance legal risk and business opportunities.

  • Develop useful templates and ways of working that make Legal an effective partner to the business.

Who you are

You combine strong legal skills with commercial judgment and enjoy taking responsibility from assessment through execution.

  • You hold a Danish law degree and have approximately 3–5 years or more of relevant legal experience.

  • You have solid experience with intellectual property, particularly designs, trademarks and enforcement.

  • You've worked at a law firm, in-house or both.

  • You're comfortable making recommendations, prioritising work and guiding a junior colleague.

  • You're interested in design, products, brands and international business.

  • You communicate clearly and work pragmatically in a fast-moving environment.

  • You're fluent in English. Danish-language proficiency is an advantage.

You don't need to be an expert in every legal discipline. You know when to handle a matter yourself and when external specialists add value.

What we offer

  • Ownership and impact: Lead an existing Legal function and help define how it develops.

  • A growing product universe: Work with new furniture designs, accessories and collaborations from an early stage.

  • International exposure: Support a brand operating across multiple markets.

  • Direct access to decision-makers: Work closely with our CFO and cross-functional teams.

  • A hands-on culture: Be part of an ambitious, collaborative team with a focus on execution and clear decisions.

You'll work from our Copenhagen office, alongside the colleagues and teams you advise.
